About Brandon

Brandon Morrissey is an American writer, director, producer, and artist based in Los Angeles, California and Seattle, Washington. He recently produced MASC, a feature length documentary exploring non-violent, non-toxic forms of masculinity in America today. The film was completed in 2024 and directed by Andy Motz.

His screenplay Singular was awarded the Seattle International Screenwriting Honors in 2021 and is in development at Gersh with Lauri Apelian attached to produce and Alain Darborg to direct.

His career began in NYC where he created The Waystation in the Stars, a Brooklyn-meets-Broadway sci-fi musical featuring numerous Broadway talents including the 2022 Tony-nominated L Morgan Lee. The film premiered at the Milwaukee Film Festival and streams on IndieFlix.

Brandon performed in Hal Hartley’s award-winning feature Ned Rifle, starring Aubrey Plaza, Parker Posey, and Liam Aiken, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, SXSW, and was a Berlinale Panorama selection.

Brandon focuses on gripping, emotionally relatable stories that elevate the voiceless and speak truth to power. He’s captivated by the surprising intersections of queer stories and the impact of masculinity on culture. His one-hour television pilot Detestable, inspired by he and his partner’s experiences as queer kids in the evangelical Christian college scene, was a semi-finalist at Cinequest, the Atlanta Film Festival, and a Top 3 Finalist in Showtime’s Pilot Competition at the Nantucket Film Festival with Tony Cox.

When not working on film projects Brandon serves as a communications consultant for the Washington State Health Care Authority, utilizing his expertise in visual arts to help build a healthier Washington State.
